Mary Jane has been serving as a Clinical Director since 1989, offering supervision and program development. She received her Certified Clinical Supervisor credential from the NC Addiction Specialist Practice Board in 2009 and became a NC Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor-Supervisor in 2011. Her extensive experience ensures supervisees receive guidance grounded in professional standards and ethical practices.
Supervision Process
A priority in the supervision process is accountability for client care and safety within the parameters and ethical standards of the counseling profession.
Mary Jane understands that healthy communication is essential for creating a supervision alliance that meets the needs of the supervisee. She emphasizes facilitative conditions as advocated by Carl Rogers and employs a person-centered approach to supervision. This helps develop a positive relationship with supervisees. Mary Jane believes that if the relationship is built on trust, mentorship, openness, and mutual respect, supervisees will feel secure and grounded, which allows for professional growth.
